Les mots 'Le Cortal' signifie une étable en Catalan, et le bâtiment était une étable de veaux à l'époque. Nos terrasses ont une très belle vue de la vallée et les montagnes, et c'est dans le vieux village. En hiver notre salle à manger est l'ancienne étable et garde tout sa caractère avec des murs en pierre apparent et des beaux poutres, mais avec la modernité de chauffage!
Le restaurant a été repris par une cuisinière passionnée par la cuisine et son Marie qui assure le service et tout autour. La cuisine à deux cotés: coté pierrade – une façon originale et conviviale a cuisiner vous même votre repas sur une pierre de lave chauffée à 350°- et coté bistrot, une cuisine style 'bistrot 'contemporaine.
Restaurant Bistrot Le Cortal, known previously as 'Le Cortal', at Vernet-les-Bains celebrates its' first birthday since its' renovation that has given it back its' youth and beauty since its' foundation 30 years ago. The words 'Le Cortal' mean stable in Catalan, and indeed the building was a stable for veal calves a long time ago. Our terrasses have a lovely view over the valley and the mountains, and it is the only restaurant in the old town. In winter our dining room is the old stable and retains all its character with it's exposed stone walls and handsome beams, but with the modern touch of heating!
The restaurant was taken over and restored by a passionate cook and her husband who looks after everything non-foody. The menu has two sides: The hot stone menu where you cook your meal yourself on a hot volcanic stone heated to 350°, and the bistrot menu which is inspired by contemporary bistrot style cuisine.
